Description

Biscotti are Italian cookies renowned for their distinctive shape and crunchy texture. They are twice-baked, which gives them their characteristic dry and crisp consistency, perfect for dunking into coffee, tea, or dessert wine.
Ingredients:
All-purpose flour
Granulated sugar
Eggs
Baking powder
Salt
Vanilla extract
Optional: almonds, chocolate chips, citrus zest, spices (such as cinnamon or anise)
To prepare biscotti, the dry ingredients—flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt—are mixed together in a bowl. In a separate bowl, eggs and vanilla extract are beaten together until well combined. The wet ingredients are then gradually incorporated into the dry ingredients until a stiff dough forms.
Optional additions such as almonds, chocolate chips, citrus zest, or spices can be folded into the dough to add flavor and texture.
The dough is shaped into logs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and flattened slightly. It is then baked in a preheated oven until firm and lightly golden.
After the first bake, the logs are removed from the oven and allowed to cool slightly before being sliced diagonally into individual cookies. The cookies are arranged cut-side down on the baking sheet and baked again until crisp and golden brown.
Once baked, biscotti are allowed to cool completely on a wire rack before serving. They can be stored in an airtight container for several weeks, making them an ideal make-ahead treat or edible gift option.
